As part of our Numeracy Life skills class, our refugee and asylum seeker students enjoyed an excursion to a local cafe.
The excursion provided students with practice in ordering items off a menu and managing their money – an important every day life skill that many of us would take for granted! It was a real treat for our students and due recognition of their hard work.
Our Numeracy Life Skills class runs on Thursday mornings, led by RNLC Teacher Rebecca Robinson and supported by our volunteer tutors. These sessions have proved to be popular with students and the class also supports the achievement of numeracy learning outcomes for our VCAL (Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning) students. Topics range from patterns, surveys and graphs, time and probability to managing money, budgeting and financial literacy.
