The work our students have recently been doing for their Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning has also given them a wonderful pastime. As part of a large unit on Fashion, our young women have been learning to knit! The VCAL knitting task included the use of oral and written instructional language and a range of outcomes in numeracy and measurement.
Not only that, it has been a great community builder! It has been a treat to see the girls continuing their knitting at lunchtimes and carrying their emerging scarves, head and arm bands in their bags. Some loved being able to finish an armband in a short time, while others have enjoyed seeing their efforts turn into a longer scarf that will just keep growing!
Well done everyone!
