Throughout June and July in 2012 the River Nile Learning Centre was a host for Melbourne University students involved in the business proposal of the River Nile ‘Food Van Project’ through Volunteer Business Practicum (VBP). VBP students engaged in a supportive role, undertaking tasks to assist the Rive Nile in becoming more sustainable.
The proposed ‘Food Van Project’ involves a mobile African food van providing healthy, convenient meals to relevant suburbs. The van also has the potential to offer an educational experience and flexible employment opportunities for current students or graduates of the River Nile Learning Centre. The food van could also be a possible revenue stream for the River Nile Learning Centre and has benefits for the African community in Melbourne.
On July 19th, the Melbourne University VBP students presented their work to River Nile members at the Graduate School of Business and Economics.
